While everyone is talking and arguing about climate change, one thing is indisputable:
We are polluting our earth in countless ways and much of it is very easily reduced or even stopped. Often without even impacting our way of life. It may simply mean being aware, changing some shopping habits and making slight changes in the way we do some things.
We are passionate about reducing waste, recycling and minimising the impact we have on our planet
Why are we doing this?
Having always been close to nature and travelled to numerous countries around the globe,
I have seen devastation, pollution and mess.
Going into shopping centres I see a whole lot of landfill - most of the products and packaging end up there in short order.
I see the mountains of useless plastic junk given to kids at birthdays and Christmas, where mostly the kids may play with them for a little while and then they get added to the pile already under their bed or in their cupboard, never to be used again. Next stop - landfill.
Everything is packaged to where the packaging is often bigger than the product inside of it.
I see people in grocery shops etc packaging everything in separate plastic bags, then put those bags in more bags, just to carry their groceries home. They do this every week and all that plastic goes straight to landfill, or worse - just dumped on the street or out the window.
We can do better
All it takes is an awareness, changing a few habits without even really impacting what we do very much and we can make a difference. When enough of us change our habits, the volume of landfill and pollution will reduce dramatically.
If you have some simple ideas about how we can reduce our waste, recycle things we may normally throw out or anything else we can do to help our environment, please share
